Ground-breaking alert system has Biomaster protection

Biomaster-partner Alert-IT, manufacturers of care alarm systems, has launched the world’s smallest wireless epilepsy support monitor.

Leicester-based Alert-IT are the UK’s leading providers of assistive technology to protect people with epilepsy and the elderly, frail and disabled. The company’s monitors and alarms ensure a high level of watchfulness without the presence of a 24-hour carer.

Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological conditions in the world affecting approximately 600,000 people alone in the UK.

Currently the smallest monitor of its kind on the market, the Companion Mini bed sensor sits comfortably in the palm of your hand and is able to identify motion associated with epileptic seizures whilst ignoring sleep activities.

Easy to install, our new monitor is placed under the mattress where it constantly monitors patient movements. Verified and ongoing seizures will then result in the transmission of alerts to a hand held pager.

The Companion Mini is the first battery powered monitor boasting a life of at least 1 year. This means that there are no protruding wires and further increases the ease of portability.

The device also has a robust, tamper-proof plastic case with Biomaster antibacterial protection. The  works 24 hours a day to prevent the growth of harmful microbes for the lifetime of the device and is proven to be effective against most common forms of bacteria including E. coli, Campylobacter and MRSA.

Alert-IT Managing Director David Godfrey says: “We have been working with Biomaster for a number of years while introducing microbial protection  into all our products. Their support has been exemplary from design and proving through to production support, including with fast delivery when we ran short.”
