Warwick Music hits all the right notes with Biomaster

The Warwickshire firm launched the original pBone – a trombone made entirely of recyclable ABS plastic – in 2010 as a more affordable, lightweight version of its brass equivalent.

The pBone is now the biggest selling trombone in the world. Warwick Music Group has also become one of the leading manufacturers of brass instruments globally with the world’s first family of recyclable plastic trombones, cornets and trumpets.

Plastic instruments technically play the same way as instruments made from brass, but are more lightweight and robust, so they are perfect for children and adult beginners.

One of the many advantages of plastic instruments is that not only are they better for the environment, recyclable and considerably cheaper than their counterparts, they are also easier to clean. Unlike a brass trombone for example, you can just throw a plastic trombone in the bath to give it a good wash.

Warwick Music has now gone one step further by actively inhibiting the growth of potentially harmful bacteria using Biomaster antimicrobial technology.

Biomaster not only protects the outside of the instrument from microbial cross-contamination from hands and contact from other surfaces, the technology also helps prevents the instrument from developing bad odours from within. When air is blown through an instrument, there is also saliva moving through it during play.

Biomaster technology is built into the plastic during the manufacturing process, so the active agent is present inside and out. It is effective against bacteria and moulds 24/7 and is effective for the lifetime of the instrument.
